Recreational - Most recreational buildings have one thing in common:  basketball goals.  Additional structural members are usually needed to support the basketball goals.  Gymnasiums for churches or schools are often used as emergency shelters and/or designed for occupancy greater than 300 persons, which will require special design codes.  If a gymnasium will be used for high school, college, or other tournament basketball games there will likely be special requirements for the ceiling heights.
